FESTIVALS: Cinedays European Film Festival 2021 Ready to Kick Off

    SKOPJE: More than 40 films will be screened at the 20th edition of Cinedays Festival of European Film, running 15-21 July 2021 at eight locations in Skopje under the slogan Film factor. Post Covid-19, the festival is being held four months earlier than its regular November dates, with a reduced programme lasting fewer days.

    Annette by Leos Carax will open the festival after its world premiere at the opening of the 74th Festival de Cannes on 6 July 2021. The closing film will be Pedro Almodovar`s The Human Voice.

    Five films will vie in the Official Competition and four in the SEE programme, selected by Bernd Buder. The jury composed of Croatian actor Slavko Sobin, Turkish producer Zeynep Atakan, and LUX Prize member Marisella Rosetti will award the best ones. The remaining films will be screened in the other eight programmes: Gala Programme, MK in EU, LUX audience award selection, UNICEF eco film programme, MK shorts programme, BAFTA 2020 shorts, Children’s Matinee Programme, and Animated music videos selection in collaboration with Flipbook Film Festival.

    The acclaimed Hungarian film director Bela Tarr will hold a masterclass within the special programme of the festival. The special programme includes educational workshops, in which teams composed of young people aged 15 to 20 will create film music and a film in 72 hours, as well as concerts within the CineMusic programme.

    The festival is supported by the North Macedonia Film AgencyCity of Skopje and Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia.
