The SEE Cinema Network held its annual general assembly on 10 November 2022 during the 63rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival. A total of 13 submitted proposals were examined and seven were selected for funding (one from each member country). Eleven short films will also receive total support of 64,000 EUR.
The winners include the Macedonian debut feature 17 by Kosara Mitić, produced by Black Cat Production, which was supported by the North Macedonia Film Agency with 373,983 EUR / 23 m MKD in 2021. It is coproduced by Serbian Art & Popcorn and was also supported by Film Center Serbia with 59,655 EUR / 7 m RSD.
The second funded debut is Romanian Ink Wash by writer/director Sarra Tsorakidis, produced on behalf of Mandragora. The project was presented at the fifth edition of Transilvania Pitch Stop in 2019 and was awarded the Young Producer Award of Yapimlab (Turkey) at the 16th edition of Sofia Meetings in 2019. It is coproduced by Nikos Moustakas from Greek Bad Crowd and is planned as a Romanian/Greek/Danish/French coproduction.
Third is the sophomore feature Jugoslava by Montenegrin director Ivan Bakrač, produced by Montenegrin Quadrifolium Films in coproduction with Nikolina Vučetić Zečević of Serbian Biberche Productions and Guillaume de Seille of French Arizona. The project was presented at the CineLink Co-production Market, which took place 13 - 18 August 2022.
The South Eastern Europe Cinema Network (SEE Cinema Network) was set up in 2000. The goal is to support the film industry of Southeast European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Cyprus). It is governed by the General Assembly of national representatives of each country. The Greek Film Center is operating costs.
