The film will be screened in 21 multiplexes in the Cineworld (www.cineworld.co.uk) chain, distributed in UK by Cooltura Films Ltd.
"Introducing a Polish film to British cinemas took enormous effort. The market is so demanding that often the French, German or Italian productions have a problem with breaking trough. Jerzy Hoffman's film is special, because it is one of the first European 3D productions, with cinematography by Slawomir Idziak, known on the British market thanks to the Oscar nomination for his work in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down," Piotr Grzelkiewic the director of Cooltura Films Ltd. told FNE.
Battle Of Warsaw 1920 was produced by Zodiak Jerzy Hoffman
Film Production (www.zodiak-jerzyhoffman.pl) with a budget of 27 million PLN
(EUR 6.7 million), with 50% of the budget financed by the Polish Film Institute (
www.pisf.pl). The all
star cast includes popular singer Natasza Urbalska and Borys Szyc, winner of
Best Actor prize at the 35th Monreal IFF, and a cast of
over 80 actors including Daniel Olbrzychski, Wojciech Pszoniak and Ewa
Wilniewska as well as over 3,500 extras.
Cooltura Films Ltd. will
distribute the picture in London, Luton,
Northampton, Nottingham, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stockport, Bristol,
Swindon, High Wycombe, Ashford, Southampton, Liverpool, Sheffield, Glasgow and
Ednburgh.
"We have no insecurities with introducing this film to the British
market. Poles living in Great Britain will have an exceptional chance to boast
to their British friends not only about the high quality of the film, but also
the Battle Of Warsaw itself, which is one of the most important Polish
military victories," Grzelkiewicz said.
After opening in
British cinemas, Battle Of Warsaw 1920 is set for an
American premiere at the Mauvico Rosemont cinema in Chicago on 14 and 15
October 2011. The film will open in Poland on 26 September 2011, distributed
by Forum Film Poland (www.forumfilm.pl).
