{mosimage}The documentary tells the inside story of the controversial and criticised profession of the paparazzo. The Polish production uses dynamic cinematography that reflects an ordinary day in the life of a paparazzo, with all its pressures and inner fever, while it focuses on its protagonist.
Paparazzi is the dramatic story of a man who makes controversial choices on a daily basis, and then bears their consequences on emotional, personal and ethical grounds. The title character (Przemysław Stoppa) turns out to be as ruthless towards himself as he is towards the world in which he hunts for topics.
Besides the nomination for the European Film Award granted at the 51st Krakow Film Festival, the documentary has also received nominations for the Silver Eye (East Silver Market, Czech Republic.
Paparazzi is Bernas's film debut. For many years Bernaś worked as the war photographer. This time, he found himself on the other side. Asked about his protagonist and his work, he answers, „Did I let myself be fooled? Did I want to be fooled? The uncertainty about Przemek will remain with me until the end... But what remains there too is a belief in the good side of the man, and the possibility of his transformation."
