Agnieszka Holland’s In Darkness is the front runner for the prestigious awards with 10 nominations closely followed by Wojciech Smarzowski’s Rose with nine nominations and Jan Komasa’s Suicide Room which has nominations in eight categories.
In Darkness which was also nominated for an Oscar this year in the Best Foreign Film Category is based on the true story of Leopold Socha, a Polish worker in Lvov who sheltered a group of Jews in the sewers of the town
The Polish Eagles Awards (www.pnf.pl) awarded by the Polish FilmAcademy who nominate the best Polish films of 2011 in 15 categories.
