Polish Days is a new industry event of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival (www.nowehoryzonty.pl) focused on presentation of latest Polish films to an international industry at closed screenings. It will take place on 21-23 July 2012 during the 12. edition of the Wrocław festival (19-29 July 2012).
The New Horizons IFF has had a great industry attendance in recent years with 400 professionals present in Wrocław in 2011. Now, the festival wants to use its position and contacts to make sure Polish cinema enters the world stage with even more success. The festival is supported by strong partners on this event: the city of Wrocław, Polish Film Institute and Film Commission Poland.
Joanna Łapińska, the festival's Artistic Director says: The idea came after feedback from international professionals wanting to see the very latest Polish films on an exclusive basis.
Closed screenings of seven completed films and eight works in progress as well as seven pitchings of projects in development are planned for the first edition of the event. 150 Polish and international professionals are expected to attend. Among them: programmers from Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Tribeca, Karlovy Vary, Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Gothenburg; sales companies such as Wild Bunch, Les Films du Losange, Hanway, MK2 and LevelK and buyers, i.e. Epicentre, Soda Pictures, Neue Visionen, Urban Distribution, Gutek Film, TVP and Polsat. Some of the Polish producers attending include: Opus Film, Akson Studio, SF Kadr, Skorpion Arte, WFDiF, Metro Films, Federico Film and Prasa & Film.
