Readers voted for best film of the season and this year in a special category, best Polish action films produced after 1945. You Are God, about a legendary Polish hip hop band, took honors for best film, actor and screenplay. It follows the formation and quick success of Paktofonika and the suicide of lead rapper Magik days after their first release. Produced by Studio Filmowe KADR (www.sfkadr.com) in coproduction with Silesia Film (www.silesiafilm.com.pl), The Chimney Pot (www.chimney.pl), and Kino Świat (www.kinoswiat.pl), the film premiered at the Gdynia Film Festival (www.fpff.pl).
It won best new director prize, best new actor and supporting actor honors and opened in Polish cinemas September 21 2012, scoring 373,796 admissions over the first weekend - the year's best showing and third-best admissions for a Polish production in the last 20 years.
Agata Kulesza took the Golden Duck actress award for her turn in Wojciech Smarzowski's Rose (www.wfdif.com.pl), while cinematography honors went to Joanna Dylweska for her work in Agnieszka Holland's drama In Darkness (www.zebrafilm.pl). The magazine's action film award went to the makers and cast of Władysław Pasikowski's Dogs (www.zebrafilm.pl) and Juliusz Machulski's Vinci (www.zebrafilm.pl).
