TVP told FNE that CCTV bought the rights to the first season of Into Deep Water, a drama series about social workers and people under their care. The show, directed by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, received the Prix Italia award for the best series of 2012. CCTV will also air Twisted Fortune, The Residence, Londoners and The House at the Backwater.
The contract between the two stations is a result of a growing interest that the Asian audience has developed for TVP productions. In 2012 TVP started co-operation with China’s Central Movie Channel to screen Polish feature films produced by TVP, including Bellissima by Artur Urbański, The Yellow Scarf by Janusz Morgenstern, Inferno by Maciej Pieprzyca, Pas de deux by Kinga Lewińska and The Queen Of Clouds by Radosław Piwowarski. TVP said it is planning to offer more of its best film and television productions to other countries in Asia in the near future.
