The film will look at the impact of Holland’s experiences during the years 1966-1971 on her life and her film work. The story is particularly relevant, since Holland’s three-episode series for HBO set in Prague, Burning Bush (Płonacy krzew), premiered in Polish recently. Holland was an active participant in the protests at FAMU and was heavily involved in the opposition movement.
“Focusing on ambitious projects and international co-productions is our goal,” Paweł Kosuń of production company Centrala told FNE. “This production is a part of the artistic idea Centrala has developed. Thanks to the fact that Petrycki is Holland’s friend of long standing we have the opportunity to produce an authentic, intimate portrait of the great Polish artist as a young woman.”
The estimated shooting time in Prague, Warsaw and Orzechowo is twenty days. The majority of shooting took place in March 2013 and will be finished in May 2013.
The film is a Polish-Czech coproduction from Maur Film, Centrala, FAMU, PFI and Czech Public Television. Returns of Agnieszka H. was also financially supported by Polish Film Institute and Czech Film Center. The budget is 133,010 EUR.
The international film premiere is scheduled for the 2013 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
Returns of Agnieszka H. will be distributed in the Czech Republic by ARTCAM.
