Poland’s Ida with record admissions in France

    WARSAW: The Polish-Danish coproduction Ida has sold over 100 000 tickets in France during the opening weekend setting a record for a foreign, non-English film. The film was supported by the Polish Film Institute.

    A story about a young nun who discovers her Jewish roots and reconnects with her aunt in the 60's premiered in France and Belgium on 12 February 2014. The French distributor of the picture is Memento Films while the Belgium distributor is Cinéart. "We congratulate the French audience on their good choice. During the first 5 days since its premiere, the film has broken the French record for admissions on a foreign, non-English language title" the producer of the film Opus Film informed.

    The black and white drama from Paweł Pawlikowski is quickly becoming one of the most successful Polish titles of the decade, sold to over 30 countries including USA, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Czech Republic and Denmark. The film, starring Agata Kulesza and Agata Trzebuchowska is produced by Opus Film in co-production with Canal+ Cyfrowy and Phoenix Film Investment.
