Circus Maximus is the story of a failing circus and the artists working there. When they run out of all rational ways to save their circus, they make the tragic but also cleansing cross-over into the real world. The cast includes Marta Mazurek in the leading role, Piotr Loretz, Dariusz Basiński and Katarzyna Kwiatkowska.

The film is being shot in a specially built hall where the crew recreated the circus and the artists’ camp. Production will end on 1 April 2014. Over 50 especially made sets of costumes were created for this production by costume designer Małgorzata Chruściel. The set designer for is Malwina Antoniszczak. The songs used in the musical were written by Anna Saraniecka and Patrycja Babicka.

The executive producer of the film is Kuba Kosma. Circius Maximus is the first musical produced by Munk Studio as part of the "30 minutes" programme, established by The Polish Filmmakers Association  and Polish Film Institute (PFI)  to facilitate débuts of new Polish filmmakers. Munk Studio also supports documentary and animation filmmakers in the programmes "First document" and “Young Animation." The film received 140,000 PLN from the programme and is also supported by the Polish Film Institute.
