The film is produced by Danuta Gegotek, Katarzyna Siniarska and Anna Wydra of Otter Films and was presented at Docu Talents from the East at Karlovy Vary IFF.

Borowczyk was an art house director celebrated by film critics in the 1970’s whose drift into the world of soft porn by the 1980’s brought him to the nadir of his career. Mikurda’s film debut will be a creative documentary and is scheduled for release in July 2015. The filmmakers said the documentary will use archive materials, animation and interviews to investigate the riddle of Borowyczyk’s career, and the “rise and fall of a larger-than-life individual.”

The 300,000 - 350,000 EUR budget is partially covered by 9,000 EUR development funding from HBO and received a development grant of 30,000 PLN from the Polish Film Institute (PISF).
