The Photographer is a story of a Moscow serial killer that takes place in three time frames at once. An investigation takes a contemporary police force into the 1970's archives where they discover a terrible secret of the Soviet Union Army soliders. The only person who can help catch the killer is Natasha, a policewoman and his last victim, and the only one who survived contact with the killer.

"A few years ago, Russian television broadcasted a report about the arrest of a serial killer. The man used to leave numbers next to the dead bodies, like a police photographer during an inspection at the place of crime does. He could imitate other people's voices. He was collecting pictures from the files of criminal cases, which his mother was bringing home. Some time ago, a similar kid lived in Legnica, in the Soviet part of the city. It fascinated me. The past ticks like a time bomb. It's like an unlocked grenade thrown into our memory," Krzystek said.

The cast is a mix of Polish and Russian actors with Tatiana Arntgolts, Aleksander Baluev, Sonia Bohosiewicz and  Adam Woronowicz in the leads.

The film was shot on location in Warsaw and Legnica in September of 2012. The movie was produced by Yes To Film with a budget of 9 m PLN (2.1 m EUR) in co-production with Studio Produkcyjne ORKA, Dreamsound, Canal+ Cyfrowy, IKSWD and Banana Split Polska. The film received financial support from the Polish Film Institute and 1.2 m PLN from TVP. The film was one of the winning projects in the Lower Silesia Film Contest, receiving 984,000 PLN in coproduction funding from the Lower Silesia Film Center.

The premiere of the picture is planned for 13 March and the distributor is Kino Świat.
