KATOWICE: UK based international sales and distribution company Phoenix Worldwide Entertainment has bought the rights to turn the hit Bulgarian crime series Undercover into a full length feature film.

Undercover/Pod Prikritie was created by Dymitr Mitowski and produced by the Bulgarian National Television. The plot follows a police officer who infiltrates the entourage of a Bulgaria mafia boss. The series premiered on BNT 1 on 17 April 2011 and has been running ever since. Currently it is in its fourth season. New Films International has sold it in more than 80 countries so far.

"The show has been immensely popular in Bulgaria and all over the world, it is based on a great premise, but it is a series. We wanted to translate it to a feature for the international market and that's why we decided to choose some parts of the story and combine them with additional scenes that we are going to shoot with a high-level, world renowned actor. We are considering very big Hollywood names," Michael Cowan, CEO of Phoenix exclusively told FNE during the recent Regiofun in Katowice.

"We will have a week-long shoot to create scenes that will tie the chosen parts of the series into a feature. It will be an English-language film and some parts will be dubbed. The budget for the shoot is 350,000 USD." he added.

Phoenix Worldwide Entertainment plans to end the post-production of this project in time for the 2015 edition of the Berlin Film Festival.
