Demon opened in Poland on 16 October 2015 distributed by Kino Świat.
The story of the Polish horror film is based on a motif of a ghost or dybbuk coming back from the afterworld to intervene in the affairs of the living. The topic has a long tradition in the Polish art, especially in theatre. The contemporary take on the dybbuk tale finds the spirit inhabiting the body of a young groom during his wedding festivities.
Magnet Man film Ltd. produced in coproduction with Telewizja Polska, Chimney Poland, Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe, Israel's Transfax FilmProductions, IF Silesia Film, Lava Films and Wajda Studio.
The budget was 1.34 m EUR/ 5.7 m PLN with approximately 660,000 EUR/ 2.8 m PLN from the Polish Film Institute.The film was shot in fall 2014 and stars Itay Tiran, Agnieszka Żulewska and Andrzej Grabowski.
Wrona, who was considered one of the most interesting young Polish filmmakers of his generation, was found dead in his hotel room in Gdynia in an apparent suicide on 18 September, shortly after the Toronto premiere and while preparing for the screening in Gdynia. His debut feature My Flesh My Blood premiered at Rome IFF in 2009. The Christening directed and coproduced by Wrona in 2010, was presented at Toronto and San Sebastian IFF.
