Podlasie SlowFest is created for viewers looking for more intimate cultural events and alternative forms of entertainment. The festival intentionally spans over 2 and a half months, offering one or two events a day, combining different art forms including film, music, theater, literature and audiovisual arts. Podlasie SlowFest will showcase unconventional artists from all over the world with a strong focus on creators from the Podlasie region.
“Instead of consuming a couple of films and concerts a day, the guests will have time to center themselves and communicate with art. Nowadays, this possibility is often not available. During T-Mobile New Horizons Film Festival the filmmakers come and stay with us for half a day, the Q&A with them lasts around 20 min and it usually ends at the most interesting moment, because there is another screening planned," said Roman Gutek.
The Slow Cinema screenings at the festival will showcase over 30 titles from filmmakers associated with unconventional and contemplative styles such as Lav Diaz, Tsai Ming-liang, Bruno Dumona, Carlos Reygadas, Weerasethakul Apichatpong, Albert Serra, Lisandro Alonso, Piotr Dumała and Marcin Dudziak. The program will also offer a special retrospective of digitally restored Andrei Tarkovsky films and European movies for the younger audience.
