Warsaw film fest to feature four competitive sections

By

About 150 films from all over the world will be screened at the 23rd Warsaw International Film Festival in October, including the Polish premieres of several films to be unveiled at major festivals elsewhere in August and September.

This year the festival will hold four competitive sections. These include the New Films New Directors International Competition; the Warsaw competition for feature films; the Free Spirit competition for independent, innovative and rebellious films, and a documentary features competition.

The focus this year will be on two small countries - Estonia and its recent film explosion, and Armenia with its long and tragic history.

An event for professionals - CentEast Market Warsaw, specializing in films from Central and Eastern Europe - will accompany the festival, which runs Oct. 17-21. The programme includes projects pitching, closed screenings of completed films and works in progress, panel discussions and workshops.
