The main criterion for the award is the number of distributed movies that won Camerimage prizes over that past 15 years. First prize went to SPI International - Polska, which entered seven winners of the past Main Competitions. The company is an independent distributor of cinema and television with offices in Madrid, Ankara, Bratislava, Prague and Warsaw. In 1999 it extended its influence by buying out New Films International and taking over the catalog of the new titles from Miramax, Buena Vista, Lakeshore and Film Four with rights for Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Second prize was awarded to Vision Film Distribution, which specialises in cinema and video distribution of artistic and all-time classic movies. The company has also introduced contemporary Asian cinema to the Polish market. In the past, Vision had entered six Camerimge prizewinners.
Plus Camerimage Director Marek Żydowicz decided to give a special distinction award to Gutek Film, a firm that entered the biggest number of movies to the Main Competition. The company is owned by Roman Gutek, a respected Polish cultural patron and businessman who is also the creator of the independent Polish International Movie Festival Era New Horizons. Known for his uncompromising approach to the cinema and a taste for scandalous titles, Gutek had provided Camerimage with 21 movies in the competition.
