Poland, Russia inaugurate script competition

By

The Polish Film Institute and the legendary Russian studio Mosfilm have launched a script competition for the best work dealing with bilateral events after 1991. The winner will be awarded $20,000, and the prize will be doubled if production starts.

The agreement for the competition was signed Jan. 31 by Karen Szachnazarow, chief of Mosfilm, and Agnieszka Odorowicz, director of PFI (www.pisf.pl) who said the competition is meant to renew Polish-Russian co-productions that suddenly stopped after the demise of the Soviet Union.

The scripts should be sent to PISF by Sept. 30. The texts will be assessed jointly by Mosfilm and PISF.
