Producers can receive a 20 percent discount by applying for all three workshops under the early deadline deal. The workshops will take place 17-21 March, 23-27 June, and 29 September – 3 October 2014.
The first workshop, Creative Aspects, will focus on issues including script development and analysis, pitching, scouting, and creative management. The single workshop application deadline is 17 January 2014.
The second workshop, Legal and Financial Issues, will include discussions of business models, funds and financing, coproduction agreements, copyright issues, and strategic planning. The single workshop application deadline for this workshop is 18 April 2014.
The third workshop, Marketing and Distribution, looks at both traditional and new models, including markets and film festival strategies, crowdfunding, online distribution, working with sales agents, and social media campaigns. The single workshop application deadline for the final workshop is 27 June 2014.
The Maia Workshops Programme Director is Graziella Bildesheim and the Head of Studies is former Connecting Cottbus director Gabriele Brunnenmeyer.
Maia Workshops has a limited number of scholarships available for participants from new EU member countries. The five-day workshops are 800 EUR apiece, or 2,000 EUR for the three-workshop package by the 13 December deadline.
Maia Workshops was founded in 2006, and focuses on CEE and Mediterranean territories. Past 2013 workshops have been held in Slovakia and Croatia.
