Grants were widely distributed across the CEE region, going to films from both well-known commercially successful directors and auteur filmmakers. Romania again was a leading recipient with grants going to Radu Jude’s Aferim and Tudor Giurgiu’s Cristian. Popular Czech filmmaker Alice Nellis won support for Sedmero. Auteurs Virgil Widrich of Austria and Vlado Skafar of Slovenia received grants, and three Balkan coproductions were also awarded grants.
Polish documentary director Marta Minorowicz received a grant for Zud and Latvian documentary director Viesturs Kairišs received a grant for his feature film Melanijas hronika.
