Sixteen Films from Central and Eastern Europe Score Slots in EFA Selection

    BERLIN: Sixteen films from central and eastern Europe have been included in the selection for the 28th European Film Awards

    The selection for the awards which takes place on 12 December 2015 in Berlin comprises 52 films from 36 European countries of which 16 are majority and minority coproductions from: Romania, Poland, Georgia, Austria, Slovakia, Lithuania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland and Turkey.

    In the 20 countries with the most EFA members, these members have voted one national film directly into the selection list. To complete the list, a Selection Committee consisting of EFA Board Members and invited experts Jonas Holmberg (Göteborg FF, Sweden), Paz Lazaro (Berlinale Panorama, Germany / Spain), Christophe Leparc (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, France), Alik Shpilyuk (Odessa FF, Ukraine), Elma Tataragic (Sarajevo FF, Bosnia & Herzegovina) has included further films.

    In the coming weeks, the over 3,000 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter. The nominations will then be announced on 7 November 2015 at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. A seven-member jury will decide on the awards recipients in the categories European Cinematographer, Editor, Production Designer, Costume Designer, Composer and Sound Designer.
