Admissions in Poland rose 13.2 percent to 44.7 m, with domestic films claiming a 17.8 percent share, making it by far the largest market in the CEE region. The Czech Republic had strong growth of 11.7 percent, for a total of 13 m admissions. Domestic films, which once held more than 30 percent of the market share, were at a relatively weak 16.9 percent. Neighbouring Slovakia, while still low overall on attendance, showed a rise of 11.9 percent, for a total of 4.6 m admissions.
Estonia had some of the most surprising results for the year. Per capita admissions were at 2.4, giving it some of the best results in Europe. Attendance was up 19 percent, to 2.4 million, helped by domestic film attendance, which captured a market share of 11.3 percent. Latvia and Lithuania, by comparison, had some of the weakest results with attendance up by 2 percent and 3 percent, respectively; however, box office for the two countries rose by 9.7 percent in Latvia and 7.2 percent in Lithuania.
