Loving Vincent by Dorota Kobiela, produced by BreakThru Films and Trademark Films, was nominated in the animation category.
The Belgian/Dutch/Bulgarian film King of the Belgians by Jessica Woodworth and Peter Brosens, produced by Bo Films, coproduced by Entre Chien et Loup, Topkapi Films and Art Fest, and supported by the Flemish Audiovisual Fund, Flanders Image, Screen Flanders, the French Community of Belgium, Casa Kafka, the Belgian Tax Shelter, the Dutch Film Fund, the Dutch Production Incentive, the Bulgarian National Film Centre, the MEDIA Programme of the European Community and EURIMAGES, was nominated in the European Comedy category.
Both Poland and Bulgaria received nominations in the European Documentary category, with Communion directed by Anna Zamecka, produced by Otter Films and coproduced by HBO Europe and Wajda Studio, and the Bulgarian/Finnish coproduction The Good Postman directed by Tonislav Hristov, produced by Making Movies Oy and coproduced by Soul Food.
The Bulgarian/Danish/French coproduction Godless directed by Ralitza Petrova was nominated for the European Film Academy’s European Discovery 2017 – Prix FIPRESCI. It was produced by Rossitsa Valkanova for Klas Film and coproduced by Snow Globe, Alcatraz Films and Film Factory production. It received support from the Bulgarian National Film Center, the Danish Film Institute and Eurimages.
The Romanian film Written/Unwritten by Adrian Silisteanu was nominated in the European Short Film Category.
The winning films will be presented at the awards ceremony on 9 December 2017 in Berlin.
