The Polish-Czech-Slovak co-production, based on one of the most legendary characters of the traditional culture shared by the three countries, will premiere within the upcoming weeks in all three territories. On August 26 a grand premiere celebration will take place in Nowy Sącz, a city in the Polish region of Małopolska which was strongly engaged in this project. On September 4, the movie will open in Polish cinemas with 100 prints. as well as have its Slovak premiere with a gala hosted in Au-Park multiplex cinema in Bratislava. The Czech grand opening will take place on September 9, and on September 10 Janosik opens in cinemas in Slovakia with 17 prints and the Czech Republic with 38 prints.

The movie is one of the most awaited film events not only because it is the biggest co-production of this type in the Cent-East Europe region, but also because it joins the three countries with it's theme. The movie evolves around a story of a famous Slovakian robber Janosik, a Robin Hood-type character in the Slaw tradition. His story was brought to the screen six times, one of which was a very popular Polish television series directed by Jerzy Passendorfer in 1974.

Over the next two days, FNE looks at the making of Janosik and its impact across the region, through an interview with producer Dariusz Jabłoński.
