Sarajevo Cinelink announces industry awards

    The 2009 Cinelink co-production market gave its EAVE scholarship to Bosnian producer Snežana Marić of Sarajevo-based Refresh Production during the Sarajevo IFF industry awards on August 20.

    The 2009 South East European Sarajevo CineLink presented 19 projects vying for international financing and distribution. The Excellence Award was given to the €1.5 million project The Exchange by writer/director Eran Kolirin. The film will be a co-production between the Israeli July August Productions and Pandora Films with Matchfactory attached.

    Zincograph by Bulgarian writer Vladislav Todorov and director Javor Gardev (Zift) won the Restart award, offered by the Ljublijana post production company of the same name equal to € 20,000 of in-kind services. The Peripeteia production company is seeking partners for its first €950,000 project.

    The French CNC €10,000 award went to Come To My Voice by Huseyin Karabey, to be produced by Istanbul's A-Si film company at € 650,000. The Goteborg IFF Fund award (€10.000) went to the Bosnian € 1.3 million production The Scab written and directed by Srđan Vuletić (Refresh Production). Another Bosnian project The Key by Timur Makarević took the €6,000 Arte award. The €1 million budget will be raised by the Sarajevo based SCCA/pro.ba.

    Vienna's Synchro Film and Video chose 3 projects to receive € 2,500 of in-kind services: The Scab, Come To My Voice, and The Key. The new Work in Progress €80,000 post production facilities award offered by the The Post Republic in Berlin went to Romania's Strada Film for the €650,000 film If I Want to Whistle I Whistle by Florin Şerban.
