Liberty Global posts Q4 gain in CEE

    Liberty Global saw a 6.5% increase in its UPC CEE division in the fourth quarter of 2009, but posted an annual decrease of 13.9%

    Liberty Global's (www.lgi.com) Central and Eastern Europe segment includes UPC broadband operations in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

    Revenue for Q4 was $300.1 million in CEE territories, and $1.11 billion for the year. The UPC operations in CEE were Liberty Global's poorest performing segment, with UPC showing 11.6% growth worldwide in revenues, and Liberty Global posting 19% overall growth, ending Q4 at $3.04 billion. For the 2009 year, UPC broadband division showed a decrease of 6.3% worldwide at $4.12 billion, while Liberty Global posted 5.5% growth overall, at $11.08 billion in revenues.

    UPC saw an 2.2% decline in customers worldwide in 2009. The company discontinued operations of UPC in Slovenia.
