This year's selection includes one film from a pending EU country: Croatia's The Blacks directed by Goran Devic and Zvonimir Juric.

Poland and the Baltics get strong play. The Polish entries include Little Moscow bu Waldemar Krzystek, Snow White and Russian Red by Xawery Zulawski, Zero by Pawel Borowski, and My Flesh My Blood by Marcin Wrona. Estonia is represented by Andus Tuisk's Bank Robbery; Lithuania by Gytis Luuksas' Vortex; and Latvia by a seletion of animated short films from Signe Buamane.

Romania gets two spots: Constantin and Elena by Andrei Dascalescu, and The Other Irene by Andrei Gruzsniczki. Rounding out the programme are Damjan Kozole's Slovenian Girl (Slovenia) and György Pálfi's I Am Not Your Friend (Hungary).
