Applicants should also have prior experience as a scriptwriter (for film or television), director, journalist, or writer. The selected participants will work with a panel of creative advisors made up of recognized directors, scriptwriters, and producers. ScripTeast focuses on developing the scripts, enhancing their chances on the international film market, and promoting their authors within the industry worldwide.

The sessions begin with a week of one-on-one meetings held in Poland at the end of September. An online writing process continues through December. Participants are evaluated at a meeting that takes place during the Berlinale in February, with further online training continuing through April. In May, the participants gather for the final time in Cannes where they meet with professional producers. In Cannes, the winner of the Krzysztof Kieslowski Award for the Best Eastern and Central European Script will be chosen by the international Advisory Board. The author of the winning script will receive a check for €10,000.

ScripTeast was created at the initiative of producer/director Dariusz Jablonski, president of Independent Film Foundation (Poland), and developed on the basis of the experience in co-operation with the Sundance Institute.

ScripTeast is organized by Independent Film Foundation, with the support of the Media Programme of the European Union, TVP (Polish Television ), Polish Film Institute, and Apple Film Production, in co-operation with the European Film Academy, ACE - Atelier du Cinema Europeen, Producers Network, e-Talenta, FadeIn (Central European Pitch Forum), and festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary.
