PRODUCTION: Diaz - Don’t Clean up this Blood Shoots in Romania

BUCHAREST: Daniele Vicari's feature Diaz - Don't Clean up this Blood is filming in Bucharest until 20 August 2011, then the production will move to Italy where it will wrap on 9 September. The postproduction will be completed in Rome.

The script, written by Vicari and Laura Paolucci, touches the sensitive subject of the police brutality against the 200,000 anti-globalization protesters at the 2001 G8 summit in Genoa, when 400 protesters and 100 policemen were injured, and one protester was shot dead.

Diaz - Don't Clean up this Blood/ Diaz - Non pulite questo sangue is produced by Domenico Procacci and Fandango Italy (www.fandango.it), in co-production with Bobby Păunescu and Mandragora Movies Romania (www.mandragoramovies.ro, site under construction) and Jean Labadie and Le Pacte France (www.le-pacte.com). The only grant for the project budgeted at 6.5 million euro was 10,216 euro received from the Romanian National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in April 2011.

The cast includes Claudio Santamaria, Elio Germano, Jennifer Ulrich, Monica Bîrlădeanu, Aylin Prandi, Alessandro Roja, Davide Iacopini, Fabrizio Rongione, Paolo Calabresi, Renato Scarpa and Rolando Ravello. Gherardo Gossi is the DOP and Benny Atria the editor.

Fandango Portobello (http://www.portobellopictures.com/Fandango-Portobello) is handling the international sales, with the premiere set for February/March 2012.
