În numele primarului / In the Name of the Mayor follows petitioners as they carefully preparing speeches like stand-up monologues, creating a meditation on power. Hirte’s last film was the documentary Teodora Sinner.
The documentary will have a 52 minute TV version and a longer version for festivals. The project is a French-Romanian coproduction from Damien Froidevaux for entre2prises (www.entre2prises.fr) and Dan Burlac for Elefant Film România (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). The French company Label Vidéo and the French TV network Télé Bocal are coproducing, and the Regional Council Île de France is supporting the project.
The budget is 200,000 EUR, Burlac told FNE. The film was shot over several periods in 2011. Postproduction started in September. Hirte is also the scriptwriter and DOP. Sophie Reiter is editing, and Marius Lefterache is doing the sound editing and mixing. Postproduction is taking place in France.
In the Name of the Mayor is set to be finished in January-February 2013 for a festival premiere.
