The film was produced by Vitkova and her company Viktoria Films and coproduced by Anca Puiu for Mandragora. The film is the story of a Bulgarian woman who gives birth to a daughter despite her vow not to have a child in the communist country. The baby is born without an umbilical cord, and is heralded as the baby of the decade. Vitkova sets the story against the backdrop of the collapse of communism and the hardships of Bulgaria’s political transition. The film will have its world premiere at Sundance.
