BUCHAREST: The 11th edition of Bucharest International Film Festival opens today with Jafar Panahi's Taxi and will run until 26 April 2015 with six debut features and second films competing for the main trophy.

The competition includes Ana Lungu's The Adventures of a Dutiful Daughter / Autroportretul unei fete cuminti, which had its world premiere in Rotterdam, and Grzegorz Jaroszuk's debut feature Kebab & Horoscope. The jury is composed of: Selma Mehadžić, Anjorka Strechel, Laurenţiu Damian, Feti Dautović and Edvinas Puksta.

Franco Nero is the special guest of the festival. Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Vinterberg will be the closing film.

The Panorama section includes titles such as The Cut by Fatih Akin, Palo Alto by Gia Coppola, Abel Ferrra's Pasolini and 3 Hearts by Benoît Jacquot. The programme also includes a Hommage to Alain Resnais and special screenings including Joshua Oppenheimer's Look of Silence, It's Hard Being Loved by Jerks by Daniel Leconte, Pulp: A Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets by Florian Habicht and Claudiu Mitcu's The Network / Reţeaua, produced by Parada Film, Video Extrem and HBO.

The films will be screened in three venues: the Studio Cinema, the New Cinema of the Romanian Director within the Romanian Peasant Museum and the Elvira Popescu Cinema within the French Institute. Bucharest International Film Festival is organised by Fundaţia Charta under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania, with the support of the National Film Center, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the National Patrimony.
