The story follows Mara (Dorotheea Petre), a woman known as the healer of her village, curing people with mud, who is rejected by her peers after assuming that she became pregnant because of the mud. She finds a job at a SPA and meets a wealthy woman (Elina Löwensohn) who tries to find a cure for her infertility. The cast includes Bogdan Dumitrache, George Piștereanu, Viorica Geanta Chelbea, Mirela Oprisor and Liviu Pintileasa.
Alex Iordachescu and Ruxandra Zenide wrote the script. Alex Iordachescu also produced the film through Elefant Films (Switzerland) and Elefant Film Romania in coproduction with IRTS SSR/SRG. The project was supported by The Federal Office of Culture DFI – Switzerland, the Romanian National Film Center, Eurimages, Cinéforom, Loterie Romande, Suissimage, Pour-cent Culturel Migros, Zenith Media, Vitrina Advertising, Tiriac Auto.
The Miracle of Tekir / Miracolul din Tekir will be released by Filmcoopi Zurich first in French-speaking Switzerland on 6 April 2016 and since 14 June 2016 it will also reach the German-speaking Switzerland. In Romania the film will be realeased by Ultraviolet Media on 4 March 2016.
