He played in more than 80 plays and 70 films in a career spanning more than 60 years. His best film performances are Long Drive/Cursa (1978) by Mircea Daneliuc, Inghițitorul de săbii (1981) by Alexa Visarion, and At the End of the Line/La capătul liniei (1982) by Dinu Tănase, all of them produced by RomaniaFilm.

He taught Acting at the Theatre and Film Academy in Bucharest from 1985 to 2005 and was State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture from 1992 to 1994.

He received numerous awards including Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Ministry of Culture in 2003 and the Transilvania International Film Festival in 2009. He also received an Excellency Award from the National Film Center.
