BUCHAREST: Marin Moraru, one of the most important Romanian theatre and film actors, passed away on 21 August 2016 at the age of 79.

He made his cinema debut in Dinu Cocea's The Outlaws / Haiducii in 1966 and played in major films of the 70s and 80s such as Dan Pița's Filip the Kind / Filip cel bun (1975) and Contest / Concurs (1982), or Manole Marcus's The Actor and the Savages / Actorul și sălbaticii (1975)  and Operation Monster / Operațiunea Monstrul (1976, all of them produced by Romania Film).
