This year, five mentors and 17 participants from Romania, Serbia and Ukraine took part in the event focused on How to Pitch Your Festival and organised in partnership with the German Cultural Centre in Sibiu.
LINE-UP brought together producers, managers of film and theatre festivals, curators, university teachers and students, aiming at building bridges, sharing experiences and nurturing future collaborations.
The mentors included Romanian producer and European Film Academy Deputy Chairwoman Ada Solomon, Serbian producer Jelena Knežević (former executive director of Belgrade International Theatre Festival), Dana Dimitriu-Chelba (head of Bucharest International Film Festival), Mihai Mitrică (head of Bucharest Animation International Film Festival Animest) and Vicențiu Rahău (curator at Sibiu International Theater Festival).
”Through LINE-UP we are aiming at raising new generations of festival managers, sharpening skills, and building a future for coming festivals and artistic events”, said Ioana Ciuban, head of ESTE FILM Festival and manager of LINE-UP.
Bogdan Alecsandru’s The Night Practice / Antrenamentul de noapte won the competitive section of the festival, dedicated to Romanian short fiction films.
ESTE FILM Festival is one of the three film festivals in Romania organising a competition for short domestic films, alongside Transilvania IFF and Anonimul Film Festival.
ESTE FILM Festival is organised by Asociația ESTE FILM with support from the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN), as well as the Mexican Embassy in Bucharest, Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), Italian Cultural Institute in Bucharest, LUX Audience Award, European Parliament, German Cultural Centre in Sibiu, the Sibiu County School Inspectorate, and Autonom.
