The film had its world premiere in the Forum section of the 2009 Berlinale and received the C.I.C.A.E. Award. The film received the FIPRESCI Award at IndieLisboa and Sofia film festivals. The project also won the NHK/Filmmaker Award in Sundance in 2008.
Jude co-wrote the script with Augustina Stanciu based on the true story of a teenager who wins a car in a juice company contest, but her parents want to sell it for their own business plans. Jude witnessed this story while working as advertising director. The girl has to shoot an advertisement for the juice saying that she is the happiest girl in the world, but with every take she gets sadder and sadder.
The film was shot in summer 2008, in the center of Bucharest, as a coproduction between Ada Solomon and Romanian HiFilm Production (www.hifilm.ro) and Stienette Bosklopper and Dutch Circe Films (www.circe.nl), with the support of the Romanian National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro). The DOP was Marius Panduru. The film was edited by Cătălin F. Cristuţiu. The main character is played by the Andreea Boşneag, awarded with a Jury Special Commendation at the Wiesbaden goEast International Film Festival. The cast includes Vasile Muraru, Violeta Haret-Popa, Şerban Pavlu and Andi Vasluianu. The Romanian premiere was in May 2009.
Born in 1977, Jude is the director of the most awarded Romanian short film of all times, A Tube With a Hat/Lampa cu căciulă. His second feature, Everybody From Our Family/Toată lumea din familia noastră received a production grant from the Romanian National Centre for Cinema this year.
