Morgen wins Romanian Filmmakers Union Prize

    BUCHAREST: Marian Crişan's Morgen, Călin Peter Netzer's Medal of Honor/Medalia de onoare and Florin Şerban's If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle/Eu când vreau să fluier, fluier shared the top prizes awarded by the Romanian Filmmakers Union (www.ucin.ro) for the films that premiered in 2010.

    Morgen (www.morgen.ro) received the Romanian Filmmakers Trophy and the Grand Prix, and was also rewarded for best cinematography (Tudor Mircea), while The Medal of Honor (www.medaliadeonoare.ro) was awarded for best director (Călin Peter Netzer), best screenplay (Tudor Voican), actor in leading role (Victor Rebengiuc), actress in leading role (Camelia Zorlescu).

    Cătălin F. Cristuţiu ( Medal of Honor and If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle) was awarded for the best editing, and Alexandra Ungureanu (Medal of Honor and Morgen) was awarded for the best art direction and costumes.

    Florin Şerban's If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle (www.vreausafluier.ro) was also awarded with Opera Prima Prize and a Special Prize for the actor George Piştereanu, while Ileana Cernat was awarded best actress in supporting role for First of All, Felicia/Felicia, înainte de toate (www.feliciafilmul.ro).

    The acclaimed The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu/Autobiografia lui Nicolae Ceauşescu (www.autobiografia.ro, by Andrei Ujică) and Tuesday, After Christmas/Marţi, după Crăciun (by Radu Muntean) were completely passed by.

    Alexandru Solomon's Kapitalism - Our Improved Formula/ Kapitalism, reţeta noastră secretă (www.kapitalism.ro) was awarded the best long documentary.
