He replaces Petra Kolevská, whose term of office ended on 18 October 2013.

Luther has been a respected director of film and TV in Slovakia since the 1970’s when he created successful television projects which are regarded as belonging to the golden age of Slovak TV production. He moved into directing feature films with the fairytale Kráľ Drozdia brada (1984) through his most recent film Mosquitoes´ Tango (2009). He is currently in production with Step to Drakness which will be released in 2014.

Luther is a long-term member of AVF Council and a teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
