PRODUCTION: Real Life Slovak Crime Thriller Completes Filming

    BRATISLAVA: Production is nearing the end of its first phase on Live and Let Live (Ži a nechaj ziť) a Slovak political thriller inspired by real events from 1995-1996 in Slovakia.

    The film directed by Vlado Fischer is produced by Slovak production company JMB Film & TV Production.

    Fischer (whose feature debut was Polčas rozpadu/Halflife) adapts Slovak writer Dominik Dán´s crime novels Popol všetkých zarovná (The Ash Justifies All of Us) and Nehanebné neviniatko (Shameful Innocent) in revealing the background of the investigation of two criminal cases, one of them the violent kidnapping of then President´s son Michal Kováč Jr. This film depicts the thorny political and social situation in Slovakia only few years after the fall of communist system.

    This film project received 320,000 EUR from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. The first phase of production is ending at the beginning of November 2013.

    “The project is very unique and interesting, because it is the first film ever inspired by the succesful detective novels of the Slovak writer Dominik Dán, with which we want to diversify and expand the Slovak genre film production of last years,” producer Soňa Javorská said.

    The film will be released at the end of 2014.
