Berger, who joins colleagues Allan Starski, Oscar-winning production designer (Schindler's List, 1993) and Christian Frei, the Swiss docu director (The War Photographer, 2001) for the networking and educational platform, will address the problems of lighting scenes while still allowing for directorial freedom in his talk "The Light and the Professional Light - Against a Dictatorship of Technology."
He developed a custom technological solution to the problem over his career, which included The Piano Teacher (2001), and an impressive directorial debut, the Alpine-set historical film, RAFFL (1984).
VFF consists of master classes and case studies held at Bratislava's Academy of Performing Arts and will also feature talks by Polish producer Ewa Puszczynska, Serbian/New York filmmaker Darko Lungulov, Roberto Olla, director of Eurimages, and screenwriting lector Paul Cronin of the New York School of Visual Arts and the London Film School.
