The Czech/Slovak/French film is produced by Master film Ltd. in coproduction with Czech television, Slovak production company MEDIA FILM and France’s BocaLupo Films. The film had a preshooting period, with filming in Cannes and Karlovy Vary (KVIFF) during the festivals.
The Wolf of Royal Vineyard Street is theautobiographical story of Czech director Jan Němec, known for breaking all the rules of film storytelling during his professional life. The main role of Němec is portrayed by Czech actor and director Jiří Mádl.
"Being directed by Jan Němec personally, this story requires an especially open but still audience friendly and understandable approach," producer Tomáš Michálek told FNE. He added, "We are not planning to participate in any international workshops or forums,as this project is very special for its auteur approach. It might endanger the integrity of his work, which is so specific."
The estimated budget of the film is 420,000 EUR. Production is planned for October 2015, with the premiere in spring 2016. The film has been supported by Czech State Cinematography Fund, and Czech Television and the Slovak Audiovisual Fund .
