The Croatian/Danish coproduction produced by Ankica Juric Tilic through Kinorama started its festival journey by winning the FEDORA prize at the Venice film festival.
Tramontane directed by Vatche Boulghourjian won for Best Film. Worldly Girl won Best Director for Marco Danieli and Best Actor for Michele Riondino.
Poland claimed the Best Documentary Award for Communion directed by Anna Zamecka and Best Short for Adaptation directed by Bartosz Kruhlik. The Latvian film Mellow Mud directed by Renārs Vimba won the Student Jury prize.
Two of Central Europe’s leading actors were recognised by the festival. Rade Šerbedžija received the Award for Artistic Excellence in World Cinematography and Slovak actor Martin Huba was honoured with a commemorative tile on the Film Walk of Fame for his lifelong contribution to Slovak cinema.
The festival included a focus on Croatian cinema, which has been noting considerable success on the international festival circuit this year.
