Badac divides his time between cities (Bratislava, Prague, Plzen), genres (animation, television, feature films) and occupations (producing, festival management). He is a graduate of VSMU and FAMU and the founder of BFILM. More recently he has assumed the position of artistic director of the Finale Plzen festival of Czech and Slovak films. He was selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2010, was a recipient of a Fulbright scholarship in 2014 and participated in the MIDPOINT feature launch and TV launch programmes. His award-winning productions include the Cannes Cinefondation 2013 animated short Pandas, Tereza Nvota’s feature debut Filthy, which premiered at the Rotterdam IFF, and the documentary Freedom directed by Jan Speckenbach selected by Locarno IFF. The latter opened in cinemas in Slovakia on 22 March.
He is currently in development with an animated children’s film, Heart of a Tower directed by Peter Budinsky, and the feature film Magda H. about the wife of Czechoslovak President Gustav Husak, as well as several short films.
