In March 2017, when the cash rebate was launched, the adaptation of the trilogy written by Hakan Nesser received a rebate of 260,475 EUR, according to the Slovenian Film Center. The film is a coproduction between Enderby Entertainment (USA), Umedia (Belgium) and The Amazing Film Company (Germany) with Pakt Media d.o.o. servicing. The trilogy comprising Death of an Author, Dear Agne and Samaria was shot in Slovenia and also in Serbia, Croatia and Belgium. Ben Kingsley did not shoot in Slovenia, where shooting was scheduled in May and also in July – August 2017.

Another project from Ireland is currently in the approval process, applying for 70,000 EUR rebate.

Foreign producers planning to shoot in Slovenia in 2017 can still apply for the rebate scheme. The total budget for the cash rebate scheme in 2017 is 1,043,900 EUR. Applications have to be submitted no later than 45 days before the start of the filming (or the beginning of production for animated films), but no later than 15 September 2017.

The Slovenian law on film incentives voted in September 2016 introduced a cash rebate scheme amounting to 25% of qualified spend for foreign producers filming in Slovenia. Qualified spend includes all the taxable production costs (hotels, logistics, rentals, services, food, accounting and legal services, etc) incurred in Slovenia. Most kinds of film and TV projects: feature films, animation, documentaries, TV series, etc., are eligible. Excluded are commercials, sitcoms and pornography.
