LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director ŽigaVirc has completed Heroines / Protagonistke, a six-episode documentary TV series providing an intimate look into the lives and work of six iconic Slovenian actresses. The series supported by the Slovenian Film Centre will have its official premiere on 12 December at Cankarjev dom, Slovenia’s primary cultural venue, followed by a national TV broadcast on RTV Slovenia in 2025.

LJUBLJANA: The acclaimed Slovenian film director and multifaceted creative artist Vinci Vogue Anžlovar passed away on 1 December 2024 at the age of 62. He made Grandma Goes South (1991), the first feature film of independent Slovenia and one of the most successful Slovenian films of all time.

LJUBLJANA: Martin Turk is currently in production with his fourth feature film, the Slovenian/Italian/Croatian coproduction Washed and Buried / Čista in zakopana (working title). The script, co-written by Turk and Italian screenwriter Fabrizio Bozzetti, delves into themes of family, memory, and identity, blending elements of magical realism and family drama.

LJUBLJANA: The famed Slovenian director Damjan Kozole is currently shooting his new feature film 20 Meters / 20 metrov, which is a Slovenian/Serbian/Croatian/Macedonian/Bosnian coproduction.

PORTOROŽ: Sonja Prosenc’s third feature film Family Therapy / Odrešitev za začetnike won seven Vesna Awards, including for best film, at the 27th Festival of Slovenian Film Portorož, held from 22 to 27 October 2024.

PORTOROŽ: Maja Weiss's long documentary Snatched from the Source / Zajeti v izviru – Slovenski otroci Lebensborna received a Special Mention in the competition of the 27th Festival of Slovenian Film Portorož (22 - 27 October 2024).

PORTOROŽ: Sonja Prosenc’s Family Therapy won the Vesna Award for best film at the 27th Festival of Slovenian Film Portoroz, which ran 22 - 27 October 2024 in Portorož. Slovenia’s candidate for the 97th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category won seven Vesna Awards altogether.

LJUBLJANA: The second Slovenian-Austrian Coproduction Meeting, organised by the the Slovenian Film Centre in cooperation with the Austrian Film Institute, was held during the 27th Festival of Slovenian Film Portoroz.
