In 2018 the Slovenian Film Center received 4,859,000 EUR for film funding and other activities. “With the Ministry of Culture additionally providing a 217,000 EUR budget increase in 2018, the most important thing is that we can count on a substantial rise in funding from the state in the next three years”, said Nataša Bučar, Managing Director of SFC.

As a consequence of the unanimous vote in the Slovenian Parliament in November 2018, the annual budget for film production will gradually increase to 11 m EUR by 2022. Bučar also pointed out that the share of women directors who received financial support for their feature films in 2018, increased up to 22%, while their share in the field of short films was 43%.

Nataša Bučar also mentioned that the SFC is preparing a new program/strategy for the next four years, in spite of the fact that the national programme for Culture is still pending.

Eight feature films are expected to start shooting in 2019, among them three debuts by Dominik Mencej, Darko Sinko and Tijana Zijanić, while nine feature films, three documentaries and one experimental film will be completed and distributed in 2019.

In 2018, the SFC awarded funding of 4,120,000 EUR, compared to 3,836,000 in 2017. Nine feature films, among them three first features and two documentaries, received funding in 2018.
