FESTIVALS: Balagov's Beanpole Wins at Ljubljana IFF 2019

    LJUBLJANA: Beanpole, an intimate Russian drama about a close friendship between two young women trying to piece together the fragments of their lives in the aftermath of war, won Best Film at the 30th Ljubljana IFF, which ended on 24 November 2019.

    The festival screened 96 feature films and 25 short films representing 54 countries in Ljubljana and satellite locations in the cities of Maribor, Celje and Novo Mesto, with attendance around 46,000 and 53 sold-out screenings (among 282 altogether). 

    LIFFe also celebrated its one-millionth visitor in the festival’s 30-year history this year.
