The story about personal revenge and redemption is set in Trieste, a town on the Adriatic coast, at the border between Italy and Slovenia. A fifty-year-old widow, who works in a hospital, finds out that the former employer of her husband, who is in some way responsible for her husband's death, has been hospitalised due to a brain stroke. His son offers her work as his father's caregiver, not being aware of the connection between the two. She decides to accept the offer, longing for revenge.

The shooting will take place in Slovenia and Italy. The main roles are played by Branko Završan and Valenina Canelutti.

Man Without Guilt is produced by Miha Černec through Staragara, in coproduction with Igro Prinčič through Transmedia (Italy) and Boris T. Matić through Propeler film (Croatia). The project is supported by the Slovenian Film Center, Italian FVG Film Comission, FVG Film Fund and Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism – MiBACT, Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Eurimages, with film studio Viba Film providing additional technical support. The budget is estimated at 1.48 m EUR.

The film is scheduled to be finished in March 2022.

Ivan Gergolet, born 1977 in Monfalcone, Italy, graduated in cinema studies from the University of Bologna. He was one of the media activists that created OrfeoTV, the first street television in Italy. Gergolet, a member of the EFA, started working professionally in 2006 as a runner, assistant director and unit manager on several productions. Since 2008, he has taught filmmaking in high schools and the Trieste jail, developing and shooting short films, documentaries, as well as music and social videos to promote filmmaking as a social awareness and a tool for personal growth. His documentary debut Dancing with Maria (2014, Transmedia Production) was the first documentary ever selected for the International Film Critics Week programme of the 2014 Venice IFF, where it received the Civitas Vitae Price.
